Hanford Site

Hanford Site, established during World War II, is a decommissioned nuclear production complex operated by the United States federal government in Washington state. The site's mission is environmental cleanup of nuclear waste, with a vision focused on achieving safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions to nuclear rehabilitation. As a part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Officer of River Protection with headquarters in Richland, Washington, it is dedicated to managing and treating 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks.
